PETROGRAD 1917 · RASKOL

About the game

Petrograd 1917 is a turn-based decision game set between March 1917 and June 1919. You take one of nine leaders — Kerensky, Lenin, Trotsky, Chernov, Spiridonova, Kornilov, Nicholas II, Makhno or Rasulzade — and try to survive the revolution, the world war and the civil war that followed.

What you actually do

Each turn gives you one large decision and one smaller one, then a newspaper page that reports the consequences. Your choices move support figures, the party fund, the state treasury and the front lines. Promises return later: a decision made in spring may only cost you in autumn.

Four ways a campaign can end

History and fiction

The dates, the fronts, the treaties and most of the people are real. The decisions are written for the game, and the numbers are a game scale, not an archive. Where the game departs from the record it says so in a short note on the card.
